Anyone out there interested in riding with someone in exploring some of the rails-to-trails paths (or other interesting (but easy) rides in the state?
Some basic information about myself that you might want to know:
I’m a 60 year-old male - don’t go too fast, but I go pretty far. I am not a competitive rider. The quality of the ride matters to me - not the riding time or distance….
Don’t enjoy group riding - more than two or so is a crowd. Yes, I did the canyon ride a couple of months ago - and really enjoyed seeing the Mountain Sheep……… :-O
Ride either mountain or road bike - as the trip/whim dictates.
Do not enjoy riding in traffic; would rather take my chances with a tree than a enraged Honda Civic with a coffee can muffler.
Love nature; have been known to stop a while and watch wildlife or take in the scenery.
Will dismount and walk/hike occasionally - enjoy exploring trails and “hidden” byways - as long as they are safe. Think Trail of the Hiawatha and/or Trail of the Coeur d’Alene’s……….
I believe a rider should not only take care of themselves, but should also look out for their partner. I always carry a first-aid kit and some basic emergency equipment. Hope my riding partner would do the same.
Enjoy and appreciate fine equipment, but am not vain about it.
Spandex-encased gonads and flames on a helmet don’t impress me - think L.L. Bean…….
Would rather ride on a weekday, whenever possible - avoiding the weekend crowds. However, if the ride is worth it, I’ll ride any day of the week.
Sorry about this “list”, but I rode with someone a couple of years ago and it was not a good match - it was a short ride. Just trying to save some grief for everyone involved……
Anyone around my age bracket still interested? If so, might be prudent to meet at a Starbucks (or where ever) somewhere to see if we might be compatible - and go from there……….
William
